Requirements for Overlanding in India, you need a Carnet de Passage to enter India with any type of motorized vehicle. This is a very strict requirement. Your Vehicle registration is mandatory and must bear the same name as it appears in the Carnet de Passage. Make sure you have a valid visa and passport. It is rare to be asked for travel insurance. Indian authorities are very stringent when it comes to background checks at the entry points like the Whaga/Atari border. Note that a foreign car is allowed to stay in India for 6 months only.
