The medical definition for Bimatoprost is that it is a prostaglandin analog (C25H37NO4) applied topically as a reduction treatment in open angled glaucoma and other elevated intraocular-pressured disease as well as a promoter of growth for thicker and longer eyelashes.

WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR THE PRESCRIPTION OF THIS MEDICATION?

Apart from the Glaucoma, it is also prescribed as a topical treatment for the lack of or a reduced amount of normal amount of hair of the eyelashes known as HYPOTRICHOSES, thus promoting healthier and more growth of the eyelashes.

This is done by not only increase the number of hairs but also shortens the time it takes for your lashes to grow.

HOW SHOULD THIS MEDICATION, BE ADMINISTERED?

Bimatoprost is a topical solution in liquid form and is applied once a day, usually at night to the eyelids and always at the same time.

Always follow the directions of the prescription to the T and always ask the doctor if any of it is unclear.

Use not only as per directed but also do not use a plus or minus, or add extra dosages as this treatment does not work better or faster if you increase the dosage, so you will just end up wasting it.

Though the full effect is seen only after sixteen weeks, you can see some improvement from week 4 already.

As Bimatoprost only works on your lashes while using it, do not stop using it once you see the results you want as it will only cause the lashes to go back to its original state within a few weeks to months.

CAUTION: do not apply to broken or irritated skin or anytime to the lower eyelids.

As this medication not only increases the rate and amounts at which hairs grow it also promotes hair growth where it is non, so always apply only to the lash area and wipe off any excess that might end up on the eyelid to prevent this from happening.

As Bimatoprost is a topical eye solution it will not cause harm to the eye itself if it accidentally runs into the eye while applying, so no need to worry or rush to rinse it out you can leave it there unless it irritates you.

Only use the sterile applicator, which is provided with your Bimatoprost, and do not use more than once or any other applications, no matter what.

WHAT STEPS TO FOLLOW WHEN USING THIS MEDICATION:

• Always wash make sure your face and hands are washed thoroughly and all make-up removed before applying Bimatoprost
• No part of your body or anything around you should touch the tips of the applicator or bottle at any time.
• When placing only 1 drop onto the area before the tip of the applicator, never on the tip, make sure the applicator is in a horizontal position
• Without causing any runoff, apply the Bimatoprost as if you are applying eyeliner, on the base of your lashes, where it meets the eyelid and from the inner to the outer area
• Remove excess by blotting with a tissue
• Always discard each applicator after each eyelid is completed, and never reuse even for the other eyelid during the same scheduled treatment
• Repeat process with a new applicator on the other eyelid
