Beat The Blues With A Few Fun Indoor Activities For Kids

.

Are your young ones starting to feel the blues of getting stuck indoors for too long? Children have really borne the brunt of coronavirus closures. Schools have shut down, and the need to stay inside has left them with very little opportunities for play. It’s getting to a point where you’re running out of ideas to keep yours occupied, isn’t it? Well, don’t worry. You could always stave off the boredom with these indoor activities for kids:

-Keep the balloon up: No need to elaborate much here; blow up a balloon and tell the young ones to keep it from touching the floor. Just be sure to move furniture and breakables out of the way first — this game can get pretty wild.

-Cards: Grab a deck of cards from the nearest store and open up a whole load of fun activities. Card games come in all manner of sorts; from Slap Jack to Sevens and Crazy Eights. Your kids could even learn by themselves if they’re old enough. Otherwise, start off by teaching them how to make a house of cards — it’ll only get more interesting from there.

  • Bowling: A bowling alley in your own home? Why not? All it takes to make one is a level space, a medium-sized rubber ball, and objects to act as pins (empty plastic bottles will do — just fill them halfway with sand if they topple over too easily).

-Treasure hunt: You don’t even need any supplies for this one. Having your little ones hunt for hidden treasures with trails of clues will not only keep them occupied, but also put their reasoning skills to the test. The treasures could be anything; treats, coins/notes, or even their favorite toys. Make the hunt interesting enough, and your kids will always be aching for the next one.

-Hide and seek: After all the treasures have been found, it’s time to hide yourselves — the beauty of hide-and-seek is that everyone from toddler to grandparent can get involved. And you could shake it up by having one person hide, with everyone else doing the seeking.

-Musical chairs: Again, this is pretty much self-explanatory. Musical chairs works best with 5 or more participants (4 players and one person controlling the music).

-Dance party: No games here; just have your kids dance away all the energy to their favorite songs.

-Cleaning contest: Turn work into indoor activities for kids by offering rewards for picking up the most chores — or completing them in the least time.
