The tech sector is all about looking forward to the next best thing. There is fleeting excitement for newly launched devices but most people only stick to the hype for a few weeks until something even better comes along. It’s a never-ending cycle. Given our collective fascination for the latest and greatest, it might be confusing for some why companies have Android buy back programs. Why would these businesses be interested in getting old stuff? Could they actually sell these off and profit from them? Given their prevalence, the answer seems to be a resounding yes. Below are some of the reasons why this might be so.
The Flagship Mystique
Most of these Android buy back programs focus on the flagship models of different brands. They are the ones that are highly publicized in the media so they have excellent recall. A lot of people wish they could get one but the launch price is typically in excess of $1,000. That is simply too much for most as it could a big chunk of their monthly salary. While it’s hard to justify that kind of purchase, they can wait for a while until the prices drop in the secondary market and buy from there.
The Excellent Camera
There really is no need to get a flagship phone if all you are aiming for is to get a unit that can call, text, and surf the net. Almost any type of smartphone will do all of those. However, settling for a mid-range or low-range phone also means settling for certain features. One of the biggest letdowns is in the camera department. Flagships have amazing cameras across the board. These can rival those of the best point-and-shoot models but with the advantage of built-in editing tools and social media sharing apps. Lower tier phones can take decent shots but they are nothing to write home about.
The Cool Design
Most phones today look basically the same. They are thin bars with a big screen and cameras at the back. However, there are some who try to break the mold by innovating and pushing design to new heights. These are rather costly but they do age and get in the used handsets market where they can be bought at a more reasonable price. If you’ve had your eyes on a certain model for a while, then check if it is already available as a second-hand item.
